Mr. Smith was appointed Vice Chair of the L.A. County Workforce Investment Board on July 1, 2008. Mr. Smith, business member, is the Managing Director of HOPE Coalition America, and Director for California Government Relations for Operation HOPE. He is the former President of IFS-Bank@Card. He worked in the banking and financial industry for over 40 years. He is also a member of the Boards of Boys Scouts of America and The Transportation Foundation of Los Angeles. His business and professional experience include: Deputy Treasurer, State of California; President and Chief Operating Officer of Operation Hope, Inc.; Regional Sales Director, Resolution Trust Corporation; Small Business Owner, Vice President and Senior Banker of a California Bank; and a retired U.S. Air Force Colonel. Mr. Smith was appointed to the L.A. County Workforce Investment Board in May 2000.
